[BREAKING] TAKE-TWO HUNTING GTA VI LEAKER: FEDERAL SUBPOENAS ISSUED
The legal hammer is dropping. Rockstar's parent company is demanding user data from Microsoft and Discord to unmask CyberLeek.
We all knew this was coming. For the past few days, the internet has been on fire with unauthorized gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto VI. However, the situation has just escalated into a massive federal legal battle. Take-Two Interactive is no longer just playing whack-a-mole with DMCA takedowns they are actively hunting down the identity of the person (or people) behind the leaks.
THE FEDERAL SUBPOENAS
According to newly filed legal documents dated August 20, Rockstar Games' parent company has gone to a US federal court to file for DMCA subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord.
This legal maneuver, allowed under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, forces service providers to hand over identifying information about users who are allegedly distributing copyrighted material.
WHAT EXACTLY IS TAKE-TWO LOOKING FOR?
To be clear, Take-Two is not suing Microsoft or Discord. They simply believe these platforms hold the digital footprints needed to track down the leakers. The lawyers are demanding a massive sweep of personal data, including:
- Account IDs and emails
- IP addresses and device identifiers
- Phone numbers
- Linked Google or Xbox accounts
- OneDrive data (specifically requested from Microsoft)
The subpoenas directly target Discord accounts and servers associated with the names Cyberleek, CinematicRockstar, and Surfer24k.
THE DARKVIPERAU CONNECTION
Interestingly, the legal documents also mention a Discord community linked to the well-known GTA content creator, Matthew "DarkViperAU" Judge.
It is extremely important to note that DarkViperAU and his community are not being accused of the leaks. The presence of his server in the documents simply indicates that Take-Two's investigation is tracking the digital trail of how the leaked videos were shared and communicated between users across different servers.
JOIN THE DISCUSSION
The Stop Killing Games movement warned them, and now it is happening. With federal subpoenas targeting IP addresses and OneDrive accounts, it seems like it's only a matter of time before the real identity of CYBERLEEK is exposed.
Do you think the leaker will be caught before the official Netflix event on August 27? Drop your thoughts below!
The hunt is on.
